Volumes & Ethics 25

.

This piece recreates the mathematical Hirschorn's six-fold rotational symmetry monohedral pentagonal tiling. All the elements have a pentagonal shape at their base, always the same or its mirror version. Only with this, the tiling expands on a circular shape where the pentagons align on a different way on each of the six circles. This geometric wonder gets enhanced by the volume of the elements, mostly white with a strong red accent as a pointy arrow. A teal gap between the elements adds richness to the color palette while enhancing the pentagonal shapes. The circles seem to rotate sometimes on opposite directions creating a sense of counteracting movement, while the mesmerizing quality of assembling of the elements enhances the viewer's experience.
